Sproat Lake Landing is the premier destination for weddings, private parties, special occasions and holiday events in mid-Vancouver Island.    SLL offers full catering services from the Award winning Drinkwaters Restaurant.

Situated on the spectacular setting of BC’s tranquil Sproat Lake, SLL is uniquely capable to provide the perfect venue for events ranging from family dinners to Christmas parties to large-scale weddings.  We are pleased to provide several options for your consideration:

THE VICTORIAN - HOME & GARDENS

The Victorian Heritage Home and Gardens, located on the Somass River in mid-Vancouver Island offers 2 acres of beautiful gardens and greenscape perfect for an outdoor wedding.  The Victorian Heritage Home offers full catering services from the Award winning Drinkwaters Restaurant.

Situated on the Somass River, with picturesque Beaufort Mountains, the Victorian Heritage Home is the perfect charming place for private functions to large-scale weddings.

Situated on beautiful Sproat Lake in the  middle of Vancouver Island, Sproat Lake Landing offers a full-service Four-Star Luxury experience for discriminating guests seeking a unique, tranquil experience.  Towering above Sproat Lake is Mount Arrowsmith,  the highest peak on Vancouver island.  The majesty of Mt. Arrowsmith and the beauty of Sproat Lake create provide a spectacular backdrop for an outdoor wedding or special event.  The  surrounding area of the Alberni Valley and the Pacific Rim offer world class hiking, nature walks, wildlife viewing, whale watching, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and surfing.

Our expansive one-acre waterfront terraced lawns are professionally landscaped and have stunning views of Mt. Arrowsmith and Sproat Lake.  Combined, these create the most scenic and outstanding setting for outdoor wedding ceremonies, receptions or corporate events.   Our largest lawn area comfortably accommodates up to 150 guests. 

Drinkwaters Restaurant is one of the most beautiful venues in mid-Vancouver Island for indoor weddings, receptions or corporate functions.   Our entire Drinkwaters restaurant  (Lakeside Lounge and Stirling Room) may be configured for receptions up to 75 guests.   Alternatively,  the Lakeside Lounge may be utilized for up to 50 guests.   For smaller family-style weddings, private parties, or corporate meetings, the Stirling Room is ideal  for 25 guests or less.

Our experienced staff at Drinkwaters Restaurant ensure that all catering requirements for receptions or special event meet stringent standards of food quality and service.   Our hospitality, concierge and Food & Beverage staff will be delighted to serve your customized menu options.  

Hors D’Oeuvres -  appetizers or canapes may be served before the meal or may be served with dinner as a part of the meal.  Using our award-winning Drinkwaters menu as a guide,  we work with you to create delicious custom canape options with or without table service.

Plated Three Course Dinners -  Using our award-winning Drinkwaters menu as a guide,  we work with you to create a custom three-course dinner with plated service.   Choose from our selection of popular appetizers, entrees and desserts.  We allow two entrees and one vegetarian entrée option.

Buffet Dinners -  For those preferring a traditional buffet style experience,  we work with you to create a customized buffet with selections such  as salads, appetizers, entrees and desserts.

Host Bar -  Also known as an open bar, a host bar option is available.  Non-alcoholic drinks and alcoholic drinks including beer, wine and spirits will be paid entirely by the host.

Cash Bar -   Individual bar tabs for each guest are also available.  All Non–alcoholic and alcoholic drinks from our Drinkwaters Beverage menu would be ordered and paid by each guest. 

Wine - Bottled Red or White wine, Rosé or Champagne options may be selected from our Drinkwaters Wine List.  We will happily assist you in choosing the optimal pairing to complement your menu options. 

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

A wedding reception or a major private event is a significant undertaking, best achieved with customization, creativity and precise attention to detail.    

Professional Services  -  Through vast experience, we have learned that the best events are those that are professionally planned and professionally executed.   Relying on friends and family for key elements of planning or execution can  lead to unforeseen challenges.   We recommend the use of a professional wedding planner or event planner to  assist with all planning, detail management and execution of the event.    Wedding and Event Planners typically charge per event or per hour of service.  Other professional services that need to be budgeted include transportation, florists, photography, ceremonial services, music and/or entertainment.

Rental Charges - Rental charges are typical for most events and vary depending on the number of guests and whether it is an indoor or outdoor venue.  You will need to budget for  rental of venue, tables and chairs, tents, linens, audio video equipment and more.

Food  & Beverage Costs - Food costs are easy to estimate and depend on the number of guests and the menu of food choices for buffet or plated dinners, canapes and wedding cake.   Remember to also budget for meals for all non-catering support people involved in the event.   Allow 90 minutes for a 3 course dinner serving.  Beverage costs are more difficult to estimate and challenges can arise especially with Open Bars.   Estimate 2 drinks per person for the first hour and 1 drink per hour on average for the remainder of the event.  Estimate 1/2 bottle of wine per guest for dinner.  One bottle of wine serves 5 glasses.
